In late October 2026, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) strengthened its international links in three ways: 6G wireless expert Professor Hüseyin Arslan of Turkey was named an Honorary Professor, João Ponciano of the University of Glasgow was appointed a Visiting Professor, and a delegation from ISEP in Paris visited to develop a joint training programme in computing.

For students, these partnerships mean more contact with international researchers, new exchange opportunities and teaching in fields such as wireless communications, aviation, transport and computer science.

    Key facts

    • 26 October: Professor Hüseyin Arslan — member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences, IEEE Fellow and Dean of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Istanbul Medipol University — became an NUAA Honorary Professor.

    • 26 October: João Ponciano, co-director of the Education Development and Innovation Centre at the University of Glasgow (UK), became an NUAA Visiting Professor.

    • 27 October: a delegation from ISEP (Institut Supérieur d'Électronique de Paris) visited the College of Computer Science and Technology.

    • Joint programme: in 2025, NUAA and ISEP's joint training project was approved by China's Ministry of Education as a Sino-foreign joint training programme.

    A 6G leader joins NUAA

Pan Shilong, Assistant to the President, presented Professor Arslan with his certificate. Professor Arslan said he looks forward to working with NUAA faculty and students on 6G wireless communication and integrated sensing and communication (ISAC). He then gave a lecture on AI-native ISAC for 6G connected vehicles and smart ports, from 5G to 6G and beyond. His research covers 6G radio access, physical-layer security and non-terrestrial communications, and, according to NUAA, he has published more than 200 journal papers.

Research skills from Glasgow, and closer ties with Paris

At the College of Civil Aviation, João Ponciano gave graduate students a primer on research — from choosing a topic to publishing — including literature reviews, data analysis, academic writing and the responsible use of AI. Both sides discussed cooperation in aviation, transport, civil engineering and informatics.

At the College of Computer Science and Technology, ISEP's head of international relations EA Thomas and Associate Professor Chabchoub Yousra discussed the joint programme's curriculum, credit recognition, short-term exchanges for ISEP students at NUAA and research cooperation.

What this means for international students
